Like my grandmother has wi-fi at her house but she doesn’t remember her wi fi password. So that means I can not get wi fi on my ipad. Yes she has the wi fi connected to her laptop. Does she have to call the company she gets wi fi from to find out? Or can she find out through her laptop? Of both, can you tell me which is the fastest. — Asks Morgan on Yahoo Answers.
This happens with most of the people. Not only Morgan faced this problem but I keep getting calls from people (relatives and friends) asking me their passwords, mainly because It’s me who configures their WiFi in the first place.
So I decided that instead of guiding everyone over the phone, I will write this up and share the link with people who want to know their passwords when they forget it.
So here it is,
Assuming that your Laptop is connected to the WiFi and you want to know the password so that you can connect your other devices (Laptop, Mobile etc) to it. Here is what you need to do.
Click on the Wi-Fi Icon from the Taskbar.
Or You can alternatively go to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center
You will end up on the same windows both way.
Now you need to click on the Wi-FI connection, (as shown in the image)
When you get the windows om the screen, you have to click on Wireless Properties.
When you get to this screen, click on the screen tab where you will find your WiFI network password. Check the show characters box which will reveal the WiFi password.
You can use this password to type into your other device for connecting them to this network.
